Bud’s Tyres make brake repairs on the Gold Coast easy. We often sound like a broken record when we talk about the importance of tyres and safety. But do you know what might just be that little bit more important? Brakes. Well… they are arguably the most important safety consideration of your vehicle.
Why not kill two birds with one stone and look after the two most important safety features of your vehicle, tyres and brakes at Bud’s Tyres? Brakes can be a minor problem or become a big financial burden. Stop them in their tracks before the issue can get dramatically worse. We offer the following services:
Rotor Replacement
Brake Pad Replacement
Brake Rotor Machining
Not only do we offer free tyre safety checks we also offer free brake checks. By coming in to our Burleigh Heads store we can present you with a calculated timeline of brake functionality concerns to alleviate any financial stress. For example, your brakes may be wearing down but your car may still be safe to drive. Whilst you should always attend to the first signs of wear and tear we won’t do anything without your permission. We are happy to book you in at a later date with safety our primary concern. You may even be able to skip the free brake check if you have already identified the issue. If this is the case you can call us for a (cheap) quote on 0402666707 or message us on Facebook so you can get back to us in your own time. We can also guide you over the phone if it may or may not be necessary to come in for a check up.
Ultimately, your brake warning light should tell you that something is wrong. However, there are other occurrences or signs you should be aware of.
The Signs
- Noise. If your brakes are making an unusual noise when in use such as squeaking, screeching or grinding this could be a clear symptom of faulty brakes
- Vibration or shaking when braking within the car or steering wheel
- Direction of braking. E.g. pulling to one side
- Incorrect installation.
- A soft or hard pressure when in use
- Low brake fluid
- Longer stopping time
- Sticky brake pedal
Brake Longevity
While there are a number of factors that determine the lifespan of your brakes, there is not much you can do to prevent wear. The main factors contributing to brake pads are based on your driving style. This can include anything from steep declines, terrain, freeway driving, common routes, vehicle size such as an SUV or sports car, towing and power. You can be aware of driving at high speeds, dramatic application of the brakes and overloading your vehicle. Whilst we don’t expect you to entirely change your driving habits to save you a trip to Bud’s Tyres earlier than expected, it may be a good idea to invest in heavier duty brake pads.
So, how long do brake pads last? In perfect conditions they should last about 70,000 km however depending on a number of factors they made need to be replaced earlier at 25,000 km. In other words, you would be lucky to get away with 70,000km and you should always have them checked earlier if your brake light is on or you notice abnormalities when driving.
BE SAFE!
The most common result of faulty brakes are collisions, hence why it is extremely important to have a technician inspect your brakes. It is a preventative measure to get your brakes checked regularly and limits further brake damage if they are neglected. These issues may become more and more dangerous and costly over time.
At Bud’s Tyres we cannot stress enough how important servicing and regular inspections are. Any brake issues should be addressed immediately. In the meantime, a smooth ride equates to brake preservation. Abrupt driving behaviour will put a strain on your brakes.
